Neuromodulators are used to safely and effectively relax dynamic expression lines caused by muscular hyperactivity.

It is also effective in slimming wide squarish jawline caused by strong bulky chewing muscles, without undergoing surgery.

It also treats other condition such as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

Neuromodulators are purified toxins from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. They are administered via injections to modulate and reduce the activity of facial muscles. The toxin is commercially available under several names.

The desired area of treatment is cleansed and numbed. Measured amounts of neuromodulators are then injected carefully into the targeted muscle groups. The procedure is comfortable with minimal pain, not more than a needle-prick.

Treatment time is typically less than 10 minutes, making it suitable for a lunch time treatment.

There is no major downtime apart from needle marks. In some instances, there might be some mild temporary bruising.

In the next 6-8 hours post-treatment, activities such as facial massages, steam rooms and hot saunas are strongly discouraged.

The effects of the toxin are noticeable from the third day onwards and may take up to a week for maximal effects. This results in the removal of expression lines and the softening of static lines. This gives an overall more youthful appearance.

For best outcomes, the treatment is repeated in 3-6 months, depending on how rapidly muscular activity returns.

Individual results may vary.

Because neuromodulators are only effective for dynamic lines, to improve fine static lines, other treatment modalities such as fillers, Thermage and Ultherapy have to be considered.
